BRINGING HEALTHCARE TO THE MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED PEOPLE OF MTSHABEZI
Since 2004, Hope for Mtshabezi (HFM) has been providing healthcare to the people of Mtshabezi area. Health Outreach Clinics (Free Clinics) are held at different villages in the region. Healthcare professionals, counselors, and teachers, volunteer their time, and HFM provides the medications, medical supplies and equipment, and transport. During the Free Clinics, children are immunized; patients are tested and counseled for HIV; treatment is offered for chronic illnesses, education is offered on preventative care. Patients with mental health illnesses receive therapy from trained counselors. A meal is provided for children under 12 years, since most of them travel long distances with their parents with no food provision. All of these activities take place in local school buildings, hence the need for a clinic facility.
